What a Helldivers 2 ping test can tell you
This page pairs a browser connection check with a record of what happened in your Helldivers 2 session. Start the browser test when you choose, keep the tab visible, and record whether other network activity is running. The test measures HTTP traffic to Cloudflare from this device. It does not join a squad, discover your match server or read the game's connection.
Use the session worksheet to add the evidence the browser cannot see: platform, solo or party play, host or client role, the symptom and the approximate time. A player hosting a session and a player joining one can record different experiences. Those role labels are comparison context, not a claim about the game's complete network architecture.
Read our measurement method before interpreting the result. The internet speed test measures throughput separately; a high download rate alone does not explain whether a particular squad session will feel responsive.
Describe the symptom before changing settings
Choose the closest description: input or game-state delay, intermittent stutter, a failed join, a return to the ship, or a complete application crash. Preserve any exact message. Record whether the incident happened before joining, immediately after joining, during a mission or at another repeatable point.
These distinctions make a comparison useful. An application closing and a mission continuing with delayed updates are different observations even if both are called “lag.” If the image freezes, record local performance evidence where available. If the session ends, record what the other squad members saw rather than assuming everyone disconnected.
Begin with an unchanged reference session. Without that reference, it is hard to know whether a later improvement came from a setting change, a different party, a different mission or conditions changing over time.
Check Arrowhead's current known issues
Before repeatedly changing a working network, open Arrowhead's current known-issues list. The publisher updates it as problems are investigated and fixed. Its introduction also explains that the list is not exhaustive.
Match the complete circumstances: the platforms involved, who hosts, when the disconnect occurs and any exact message. A vaguely similar report is a lead, not confirmation that it explains your case. Likewise, absence from the list does not prove that an issue is caused by your provider or device.
Save the title or link of any relevant issue with your own incident date. Check the current entry again before escalating, because a copied note can outlive the version of the game it described. This page links to publisher guidance rather than claiming to monitor live game status.
Compare solo, party, host and client observations
- Record the usual session and symptom without changing several variables.
- If practical, compare solo play with the usual party and note whether the symptom is comparable.
- With the same willing party, record who hosts and whether the outcome differs for the person joining.
- Keep the connection type and background activity similar.
- Repeat a promising comparison, recording failures as well as successful attempts.
Illustrative example: a player can complete one solo session, but two attempts to join the same mixed-platform party end immediately. That record makes platform, role and join timing useful details for support. It does not establish which device is faulty, prove a specific network topology or show that a browser baseline measured the game's delay.
Do not remove security protections or share account access to test a theory. Keep the comparison limited to sessions and settings that participants normally control.
Investigate the connection and the client separately
Repeat the browser baseline around the incident and note its destination and time. If possible, compare the same device using Ethernet and Wi-Fi, or repeat with a large household transfer paused. Change one condition at a time and retain the reference result. A changed browser result is evidence about that browser path, not a diagnosis of the game session.
Our packet loss and jitter test can provide a separate stability observation with its own stated method. For region comparisons outside the match, use the browser server ping test. Neither establishes the private session's UDP latency.
For crashes or rendering issues, consult Arrowhead's general technical guidance. It includes checks for system requirements, drivers and game-file integrity. Choose a step that fits the observed symptom and follow the publisher's current instructions.
Prepare a precise session report
Record the approximate date, time and time zone; your platform; the platforms involved in the party; your host or client role; the stage of play; and the exact symptom. Add which comparisons you tried, how often the issue repeated, and whether another player observed the same event.
Keep a browser measurement in a separate labelled field. If no game latency number is available, leave it unknown. Do not replace it with the browser result or calculate a fictional game ping from download speed. Review copied notes before submitting them through Arrowhead support; exclude credentials, account identifiers and private addresses.
For other game-specific investigations, see THE FINALS ping and warning checks and Destiny 2 ping testing. The Gamer Hub keeps the tools together without treating different games as the same destination.
