FFXIV Ping Test & Data Center Route Checker

Figure out your FFXIV connection with a browser baseline and a separate data-center route check. Choose your physical data center, generate Windows or Mac commands, and record the conditions when lag occurs.

Step 1 · Browser connection baseline

Check your connection before playing

HTTP · Cloudflare

Run a short HTTP latency check, then use the Final Fantasy XIV diagnostic tools below to compare your actual game observations.

This browser test measures response timing to Cloudflare. It does not connect to Final Fantasy XIV servers, select a game region or measure the game’s UDP packet loss.
20 small requests after one warm-up · usually under 30 seconds

Ready. The test starts only after you press Start connection test.

Average HTTP latency—Response timing to Cloudflare
Median HTTP latency—Middle successful measurement
HTTP timing variation—Mean difference between adjacent replies
Valid HTTP responses—Failed requests are not UDP packet loss

No completed samples yet.

Measurement details

One warm-up is excluded. The test times 20 small HTTPS requests, including browser and network overhead. It checks for a successful one-byte response before including a sample. Variation is the average absolute difference between adjacent successful samples; a failed request breaks the pair. This is not RTP jitter or an in-game ping reading. The test stops when this tab is hidden or goes offline. Failed or blocked requests are reported without inventing a latency value.

Cloudflare receives normal connection information when you start. Your diagnostic worksheet fields are not included in those requests. Read how we test and our privacy policy.

Build your FFXIV data-center check

Select the physical data center for the World you are playing on. Copy the route command to your computer, then record the conditions and output. The page does not run these commands.

North America · 204.2.29.122

Data-center route · official workflowtracert 204.2.29.122
Optional ICMP sample · 20 requestsping -n 20 204.2.29.122

These commands run only when you copy them to your own computer and start them. Diagnostic hosts and ICMP/traceroute results are different from a live game-session latency reading. On phones and consoles, use the game’s own connection display or the publisher’s instructions.

Your observations

Values and notes stay in this page until you leave or reload it. They are not sent with the HTTP test. Leave unknown measurements empty.

How to check FFXIV ping without mixing measurements

Begin by deciding what you want to learn. The browser test checks a connection baseline to its stated destination. A command aimed at a publisher diagnostic address checks a different path. An observation inside FFXIV describes the session you were playing. Label each one so a good result in one place does not hide a repeatable problem elsewhere.

This page covers Final Fantasy XIV, FFXIV and FF14 in one workflow. Start with a quiet-network baseline, use the data-center selector, then complete the worksheet during the period when the problem happens. Read how our browser measurements work before interpreting the numbers. The separate server ping test is useful for a broader region comparison.

Choose the physical data center for your World

Square Enix’s World Status page groups Worlds under logical data centers and four physical regions: North America, Europe, Oceania and Japan. For example, Aether and Primal are logical centers in North America; Chaos and Light are in Europe. Use the physical region associated with the World you are actually playing on.

Our selector shows the four diagnostic addresses currently listed in Square Enix’s network investigation guide. The publisher notes past address changes, so we include the source link beside the commands. A World’s online or character-creation status does not measure the delay from your home. Check status and route observations as different pieces of evidence.

Generate a data-center route command

Select Windows or Mac, copy the displayed route command, and run it in your computer’s terminal. Square Enix’s workflow uses tracert on Windows and traceroute on Mac. The command remains visible so you can inspect the destination before running it. It does not change the game, your account or router settings.

The optional short ping sample adds an ICMP round-trip observation if the target responds. It is a separate diagnostic, not a replacement for Square Enix’s route report. Microsoft documents the Windows count option; Apple’s manual documents the Mac count option. Stop a command with Control+C if you need to interrupt it. Keep the target and time with the output.

Read a route without diagnosing a fault from one hop

A trace displays responses to probes with increasing hop limits. The intermediate rows describe replies from devices along a path; they are not a list of application delays to add together. Microsoft’s tracert documentation explains that some routers do not return the expected diagnostic response and may appear as asterisks.

If a middle row is silent and later rows answer, record it without declaring that router broken. If a sample is incomplete, call it incomplete rather than inventing a final latency. Repeating the same target during a normal period and a troubled period is more informative than comparing unrelated traces from different devices, destinations and times.

Compare a normal period with a troubled period

Use the worksheet to record physical data center, World or logical center, platform, connection type, time zone and the symptom. Add the browser baseline and any completed command summary as separate fields. A clear symptom is more useful than a verdict: write “actions responded late for about two minutes” rather than “the entire internet was broken.”

Illustrative recordUseful detailWhat it avoids
Normal comparisonSame PC, Europe target, Ethernet, household activity notedComparing different routes without noticing
Problem comparisonSame setup, exact time window, delay or disconnect describedCalling an intermittent problem constant

This is an illustrative recording plan, not a test result or claim about any data center. Change one condition at a time. Keep the old record when testing another condition so you can reverse your interpretation if later evidence disagrees.

Checking from console, Wi-Fi or a busy household

A computer on the same home network can collect a useful route comparison for a console player, but it cannot reproduce every part of the console’s session. Identify which device produced each measurement. Also note when a phone switches to mobile data; that comparison uses a different network.

If you can safely compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi, keep the destination and device consistent. Record ongoing uploads rather than deliberately filling the connection during a match. Use the internet speed test for throughput and our packet loss and jitter test for its stated stability measurements. None should be relabelled as FFXIV server processing time. Other MMO and action-RPG workflows are available for World of Warcraft and Path of Exile 2.

Prepare an FFXIV lag report with context

Square Enix asks for route information together with provider, approximate location, time window, time zone and frequency. Follow the current official reporting instructions when you decide to contact support. Review addresses and hostnames before sharing a trace, and use an official support channel for private connection details.

If the issue affects only one activity or World, keep that detail. If it also happens outside the game, record a comparable example. These observations help narrow the next investigation; they do not establish blame on their own. Browse the Gamer Hub for other connection checks.

Final Fantasy XIV ping test FAQs

Can this website show my exact FFXIV game ping?

The browser test reports an HTTP baseline to its displayed destination. The command builder prepares a separate check to Square Enix’s published diagnostic address. Neither is described as a direct measurement of your active FFXIV session.

How do I figure out ping for FFXIV on Windows or Mac?

Choose the physical data center associated with the World you are playing on. Generate a Windows tracert or Mac traceroute command, run it yourself, and record the output and time. An optional bounded ping sample is a separate ICMP check if that target answers.

Which IP address should I use for an FFXIV data-center check?

Use the address currently published by Square Enix for Japan, North America, Europe or Oceania. This page provides its reviewed list and a link to the official guide. Recheck that source if a destination changes or no longer works.

Does an online World status mean my FFXIV connection is healthy?

Online status concerns World availability. It does not measure your device’s route, round-trip delay or connection stability. Check official status and your own observations separately.

Is a high or timed-out traceroute hop proof of FFXIV packet loss?

A single intermediate response is not enough to prove lost game traffic. Routers can handle diagnostic probes differently, and some do not reply. Keep the complete trace, compare repeated samples and describe what the game did at the same time.
