Deadlock Ping Test

Run a regional browser HTTP timing estimate before playing Deadlock, then compare it with Valve’s in-game Telemetry HUD. The browser check helps compare connections; it does not measure a private Deadlock match server, read Steam networking telemetry, or reproduce the packets and timing of your live match.

Regional Connection Comparison

Method: three HTTP probes per AWS region, up to six requests at once, with a 2.5-second timeout. Rejected and timed-out requests show Unavailable. Opaque browser responses hide HTTP status; timings can include DNS, TLS and server work. This does not test the actual game server or UDP packet loss. Testing stops when the tab is hidden or the browser goes offline.

How to Use This Deadlock Ping Test

  1. Run this page on your Deadlock computer with the connection you normally use. Pause Steam downloads and other large transfers.
  2. Let the regional browser checks finish and note the pattern. Retest after only one connection change.
  3. In Deadlock, open Settings → Game → Telemetry, as documented by Valve, and enable the relevant ping and performance displays.
  4. Observe the HUD during the symptom. Record whether the change is in ping, frame time, or the network-problem indicators rather than assuming every hitch has the same cause.

Use Deadlock’s Telemetry HUD for actual match information

Valve’s Source2 Telemetry HUD guide distinguishes round-trip ping from frame performance. Both can be expressed in milliseconds, but only the ping display concerns network delay to your match server.

Keep the relevant displays visible while investigating an intermittent problem. Observe which one changes when you experience a hitch. This provides a better starting point than a browser average collected before the match.

Deadlock network problems are not just a packet-loss percentage

Valve’s network-problem indicators concern game updates that arrive late or fail to arrive. They are not interchangeable with web-request failures from a browser.

In particular, this page does not inspect Deadlock’s incoming or outgoing game traffic. It cannot measure missed game updates, server processing, or the effect of the game’s buffering. Use its timings only as a separate connection baseline.

Separate frame-time spikes from connection instability

  • If the view briefly freezes while the frame-time display spikes, investigate local performance. A faster internet route cannot make the GPU or CPU render that frame sooner.
  • If the game’s network indicators worsen while you snap between positions, compare a quiet network or wired connection and record the change.
  • Keep the same graphics settings during a connection comparison. Then make a separate performance comparison if needed so the results remain interpretable.
  • Record the issue time, connection type, relevant HUD readings, and a short clip when using Valve’s official help or feedback routes.

Build a repeatable Deadlock connection comparison

Start with a normal authorised connection, then try one adjustment at a time. For Wi-Fi, compare a location nearer the router or an Ethernet connection if available. Repeat during the hours when the issue normally occurs and note whether other devices are transferring large files.

Valve notes that extra buffering can smooth interruptions while adding delay. If your current client offers that option, record the original setting and compare in-game results carefully. This web tool cannot select that option, assess its added delay, or guarantee a fix.

Avoid copying a Counter-Strike-only matchmaking setting into a Deadlock guide. Although both games use the documented Telemetry HUD, their available matchmaking controls and sessions are not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I show real ping in Deadlock?

Valve documents the Telemetry HUD under Settings → Game → Telemetry. Enable the ping display and observe it during the match rather than using a browser result as a replacement.

Does this tool measure Deadlock packet loss or missed ticks?

No. It measures browser HTTP response timing. The game’s own network-problem indicators describe game-traffic timing and should be read using Valve’s HUD documentation.

Why does Deadlock stutter even though ping looks steady?

Check frame time and other performance information. A rendering hitch can occur with steady network latency, while a single ping value also cannot describe every aspect of a live game connection.

Can this browser test choose a Deadlock server?

No. It does not control Steam, matchmaking, account region, or game routing. The displayed regions refer only to this browser measurement.
